Planning for my 2 specialist radio shows

My first idea, out of my two for my shows, would to be a mix of an introducing/live lounge type show whereby I would have artists from the college play their own tracks and also cover well know tracks; I would also include interviews with them about their music and their style. It would be targetted at students from the college and outside and also young people up to the age of about 25 who are in to up and coming artists. I would have them mainly cover well know chart songs when they did covers as well as future hits and older well know songs because this should appeal to a wider range of listeners due to the music genres.

An idea of a list of cover songs could be:

Tom Odell – Another Love, Arctic monkeys – Do I Wanna Know, Coldplay – Every Tear Drop is a Waterfall, Amy Winehouse – Back to Black, Florence and the Machine – You’ve Got the Love, Katy Perry – Roar, NaughtyBoy & Sam Smith – La La La and One Republic – Counting Stars.

Above is just a sample idea of songs that would hopefully be an option to cover. I would air this show on a friday evening at 6-7 because a lot of young people will start listening before they start getting ready to go out to the club shows that are programmed after this time.

My second show idea was “flashback hour” show. This would attract a wide audience as both older teenagers/young adults would listen because this was the music that was popular when they were growing up, however quite alot of younger people would continue to listen because they would know the music well due to their siblings listenership or the popular profile of the music; The tracks are all feel good, sing along tunes that everybody knows.

An idea of the run of my show, with script, would be:

random new song from the charts

Above is just a sample idea of songs that would hopefully be on the playlist and an idea of the links between the tracks. I would air this show weekday mornings between 10am and 11am, this is when the majority of my listeners will be awake and listening as my target audience are essentially older students who will probably be at home at this time. This reflects my song choise as all these songs would have been very popular when my listeners were of a younger age and in their teenage years.
